Early tally lifts York past No. 6 Dickinson men’s soccer

YORK, Pa. - The host York College of Pennsylvania got a goal from Tannor Wiszneski a little over two minutes into the match and that was all the Spartans would need as the sixth-ranked Dickinson men's soccer team could not hit the back of the net as the home side held on for a 1-0 non-conference win at Graham Field on Sunday afternoon.

First half

• It would be the first shot of the match that would stand up as the winner when Elaiwe Ikpi setup Wiszneski for the finish past Gavin Marr to make it 1-0 at the 2:11 mark.
• Dickinson had a chance to equalize a few minutes later as a corner kick from Daniel Argueta Rosales came to Sachil Kenkre, who missed just wide.
• In the 14th minute, York looked to add onto their advantage after a foul committed in the box resulted in a penalty kick. However, Gavin Huey sent the offering off target to keep the score at just 1-0.
• Two attempts from Mika Rafidimahavonjy and a solo chance for Nicholas Dwamena only led to one save being made by Jake Bono.
• After Marr turned away Tom Schroder, Connor Harrington, Timi Omoniwa and Henry Schultz each posted a shot prior to the end of the frame. Unfortunately, none of them bothered Bono as the match went to the break.

Second half

• Dickinson used the opening 10 minutes to ask all kinds of questions of the Spartans backline. However, every time Bono was there to clean things up as he recorded saves against Parker Kiey, Maxim Temple and Omoniwa.
• The Spartans tallied the ensuing four chances, but all of them sailed off target as the match entered the final 20 minutes.
• Jason Dixon, Rowan Jensen, Charlie Roy, Rafidimahavonjy and Temple combined for the last six shots; unfortunately, none of them made it to Bono as the final horn sounded with the home side on top 1-0.
