CARLISLE, Pa. - For the second straight game the Dickinson women's soccer team showed off their attacking mindset as they outshot the visiting Waynesburg University by a 28-6 margin, including 15-4 on target, and using first-half goals from Joelle Ma as well as Mamady Bangoura the Red and White were able to secure a 2-1 non-conference win at Miller Memorial Field on Friday afternoon.
First half
The Devils were on the attack early with the trio of Anna Bitsko, Lauren Ervin and Ava Prisco recording six shots inside the opening 15 minutes, but Lex Greenlief was up to the challenge, making a pair of saves.
Waynesburg was then able to find its footing and get the offense going with shots from Hailey Gilchrest, Miracle Hershey and Julz Mohrbacher forcing DC keeper Pico Gray to notch two stops.
Emma Barrabee, Mckenna Gross, Norah Heacock, Amber Liu, Ervin, Ma and Prisco used the next 15 minutes to combine for nine shots, tasking Greenlief with posting four saves to preserve the scoreless draw as the match reached the half-hour mark.
However, all that pressure was rewarded with a foul committed by Ryan White in the box, resulting in a penalty kick for the home side. Ma stepped up from 12 yards away and sent the ball past Greenlief for the 1-0 lead.
Dickinson would wait eight minutes to tally its next shot and next goal as Bangoura tickled the twine, making it 2-0 at half.
