SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – After a second-place finish on Tuesday at the Little Three Championship, the Dickinson women's cross country team returned to competition on Friday night at the Galen Piper Invite, hosted by Shippensburg University. The Red and White put forth another solid effort, earning a fourth-place finish in a race that saw schools across all three divisions represented.
Liza Barbash continued her strong start to the season with a 15th-place finish in the 4K, posting a time of 15:24.2. Meghan Higgins-Haas finished just behind her in 17th place with a time of 15:26.9, while Meghan McGinnis placed 28th in 16:11.9.
Sophomores Roma Diak and Tess Nicholas rounded out Dickinson's top five, finishing 35th and 36th, respectively. Diak crossed the line in 16:26.5, while Nicholas recorded a time of 16:31.1. Marley Kurey placed 48th in 16:49.8, followed by her classmate Breanna Franchak in 55th with a time of 17:01.3.
The Red Devils finished fourth overall with 104 points in a field of 10 teams and more than 120 competitors. George Washington secured the team title with 24 points.
Dickinson returns to action on September 12 for the annual Dickinson Long-Short Invite. The meet will take place at Big Spring High School in Newville, Pennsylvania, with competition scheduled to begin at 10:45 a.m.
