COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The sixth-seeded Dickinson field hockey team saw its 2026 season come to an end on Tuesday night as the third-seeded and 13th-ranked Ursinus College built up a 3-0 halftime lead and held on for the 3-1 win at the Snell Field Hockey Field in the first round of the Centennial Conference Tournament.
First quarter
Dickinson had the early pressure, earning a corner less than two minutes in resulting in a shot for Caroline Kirkpatrick, but it was knocked down by the defense.
The Bears then went back the other way and used two corners of their own to eventually take the lead as Marie Brainard stepped around a defender and beat Arden Cook with five minutes gone.
Nicole Uebele posted the next shot at the 10:47 mark; unfortunately, Elise Martin was there to make the stop.
Following a save by Cook against Brainard, Uebele entered the attack circle and skipped an effort wide of Martin to end the frame.
Ursinus was on the attack early, posting three corners within the first two minutes, leading to one Cook save.
The Bears kept pushing as Katie Studzinski struck off the fourth corner, before, 50 seconds later, Brainard ripped one past Cook for a 3-0 advantage.
Uebele recorded the last shot of the half, but it would not test Martin.
Third quarter
The Red and White came out of the break with renewed energy as Alex Hackett, Erin Liggio and Uebele each forced a stop out of Martin within the first five minutes.
All that pressure paid off with 6:19 gone when Megan McClure connected with Hackett for the finish past Martin.
Dickinson's defense was locked down throughout the period as they did not allow a shot, while McClure tested Martin one last time prior to the horn.
Fourth quarter
Ursinus did not let Dickinson attempt to get back into the game, tallying the only eight shots and forcing five saves from Cook as well as a defensive save by Ella Ledenko.
