CHESTERTOWN, Md. - The Dickinson field hockey team got first half markers from the trio of Raegan Carty, Alex Hackett and Nicole Uebele to secure the sixth spot in next week's Centennial Conference Tournament thanks to a 3-0 win over Washington College at Kirby Stadium.
First quarter
Dickinson controlled the period, earning four corners that resulted in nine shots and two goals.
The trio of Alex Hackett, Erin Liggio and Uebele forced one stop from Charlotte Schurman within the opening eight minutes.
Carty made it 1-0 visitors with 8:35 off the clock as she cleaned up the rebound from a Liggio attempt.
Just over two minutes later the score went to 2-0 when Hackett beat Schurman with an unassisted marker.
Gillian Rosenstock tested Schurman one final time in the final minute, but she was up to the task.
Abby Coppolella took over between the pipes to open the period and was immediately put under pressure as she turned away both Hackett and Liggio five minutes in.
However, all the DC pressure would finally result in the third of the game when a corner played in by Ella Ledenko found Uebele, who buried her shot.
With 23 minutes gone, Washington finally got their first chance of the match when Arden Cook shut down Tara Radebaugh.
The Devils carried that momentum to the other end of the pitch with shots from Alexandra Hockwitt, Megan McClure and Liggio resulting in four more saves by Coppolella.
Washington tried to crack the scoreboard in the final minutes, but Cook had the answer for Radebaugh.
Third quarter
No scoring.
Fourth quarter
Schurman returned to the cage for the fourth and denied both Liggio and McClure, closing out the 3-0 win and sending the Red and White back to the postseason.
