ANNVILLE, Pa. – An early second half goal for Darian Crim helped the Dickinson men's soccer team erase a 1-0 halftime deficit on Wednesday afternoon at Lebanon Valley College. However, the second set piece goal of the match for the Dutchmen with just under ten minutes to play lifted them to a 2-1 non-conference win at Herbert Field.
First half
Both sides were on the attack within the opening five minutes as Darian Crim missed over the top of Isaac Yerger's net, while Will Burton was denied by Aidan George.
LVC posted the next two chances over a ten-minute window with Logan Hicks and Gavin Rapp sending the ball wide of frame.
The duo of Roan Harrington and Josh Dozier accounted for the Red Devils' next attempts in the 16th and 21st minutes, but Yerger was up to the task.
Five minutes later Timi Omoniwa had a blast turned aside by Yerger, which led to Ollie Lynch going back the other way and having a shot blocked down by the DC backline.
The Dutchmen took advantage of a corner kick in the 30th minute when Nathan Kimball connected with Rapp for the finish.
LVC continued to press hard, forcing two more saves out of George, while Yerger had the response for both Daniel Argueta Rosales and Henry Schultz to end the half.
Dickinson had the early pressure with Mika Rafidimahavonjy and Harrington each firing toward goal inside of the ten-minute mark; however, Yerger continued to stand in the way.
Five minutes later, coming off a save by George on Kimball, the Red and White embarked on a counterattack with Parker Kiey serving in a cross to Crim, who stabbed it home with an outstretched right boot to tie the match.
That goal sparked the Devils' attack as they tallied the next eleven shots thanks to Patrick McCune, Maxim Temple, Crim, Harrington, Kiey, Omoniwa and Rafidimahavonjy. Yerger picked up two more stops to keep the score level with the match entering the final ten minutes.
Despite all of the attacking coming from the Red and White, it was ultimately the home side that broke the tie with a free kick from Kimball finding the head of Hicks, who bested new goalkeeper Luka Cuk with 80:45 gone.
Connor Harrington, Jeremy Sallade and Crim each let a shot go at goal throughout the rest of the match, but Yerger recorded two more stops to finish off the win.
