BALTIMORE - The Dickinson men's tennis team spent their weekend in the Charm City taking part in multiple tournaments at both Loyola University and Goucher College.
Loyola tournament
In doubles, the duo of Lucas Bogle and Antonis Malavazos played three matches which started off with a 6-3 setback against Alexi Roy and Stefanos Pournaropoulos from Mount St. Mary's. They then defeated Blake Edwards-Cyrus Shivkumar from the host Greyhounds 7-5, before dropping a 6-1 decision to Ilya Maltsev-Abdulraheem Isa (Morgan State). David Daraban partnered with Nikhil Narsi to fall just short of Ryan Wagner-Antoine Martel (Mount St. Mary's) by a score of 7-6 (7-3 tiebreak). The tandem then dropped matches to duos from Loyola (6-4) and Morgan State (6-0). Sandro Buskhrikidze-Kabir Jaitly were bested by Federico Strocchi-Akarsh Gaonkar from Mount St. Mary's (6-2), before coming just shy of beating Loyola's Alejandro Rotundo-Aidan Francia Cotter (7-5).

In singles, Narsi and Malavazos each picked up victories for Dickinson. Narsi began his day by battling past Nate Helms of Mount St. Mary's in a three-set thriller, prevailing 6-1, 2-6, 11-9. He then pushed Loyola's Aidan Francia Cotter to another decisive tiebreak before narrowly falling 6-4, 3-6, 10-8. Malavazos earned a straight-set 6-3, 6-4 victory over Mount St. Mary's Federico Strocchi before dropping decisions to Alejandro Rotundo of Loyola and Mohamed Ridha Ghettas of Morgan State, with the latter coming in a tightly contested 6-2, 5-7, 10-4 match. Bogle also went three sets against Loyola's Eddie Roake, falling 5-7, 6-4, 10-4, while Sandro Buskhrikidze and Kabir Jaitly each forced second-set tiebreaks against Mount St. Mary's Akarsh Gaonkar and Morgan State's Jacob Poole, respectively. Daraban completed three singles matches for the Red Devils, taking on Nikos Makris of Mount St. Mary's, David Suares of Loyola and Yessine Kerouat of Morgan State.
Goucher tournament
In doubles, the Red Devils advanced two pairings into the A Flight semifinals. Eddy Chow and Hayden Baer began the tournament with a 6-3 quarterfinal victory over Penn State Harrisburg's Ved Pawar and Damir Cuturic before dropping a 6-2 decision to Gettysburg's Spencer Pompian and Matt Porreca. Drew Allen and Ben Cioladis edged Gettysburg's George King and Carlo Alexandro Cermeno Cortes 7-6 (3) in their quarterfinal match, but came up just short against Gettysburg's Teo Burgess and Owen Kutlu, 6-4, in the semifinals. In the B Flight, Aidan MacIntosh and Jack Weaver suffered a 6-3 semifinal setback against Gettysburg's Rex Bondi and Jonah Lotstein.
In singles action, Dickinson sent two players into their respective championship matches. In the A Flight, Baer advanced with an 8-4 quarterfinal victory over Goucher's Carlo Alexandro Cermeno Cortes before edging Gettysburg's Teo Burgess 8-7 (7) in the semifinals. Baer's run ended with an 8-4 loss to Penn State Harrisburg's Ved Pawar in the final. Weaver reached the B Flight championship after opening with an 8-0 win over Stevenson's Christian Coulson and advancing through the semifinals by walkover. He came just shy of the title in a 7-8 setback against Gettysburg's Ben O'Connor-Skloot. Cioladis also reached the B Flight semifinals following an 8-4 victory over Goucher's Lucas Lucena. MacIntosh and Chow earned convincing opening-round wins in the C and D Flights, respectively, with MacIntosh defeating Stevenson's Nate Kelly 8-0 and Chow besting Penn State Harrisburg's Harris Ahmed 8-1. In the A Flight consolation draw, Allen earned an 8-6 victory over Goucher's George King, while Dylan Steinberg battled Gettysburg's Rex Bondi before narrowly falling 8-7 in the E Flight quarterfinals.
Dickinson will take a week off before getting back to competition on Thursday, October 1 at the ITA Regional hosted by the University of Mary Washington at the Battleground Athletic Complex in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
