No. 6 devils cage wolves in 5-3 road victory

READING, Pa. - The sixth-ranked Dickinson men's soccer team got back to their winning ways on Saturday afternoon as a first-half brace by first-year Maxim Temple laid the foundation for the Red and White to post a 5-3 non-conference win over host Alvernia University at the Alvernia Turf Field.

First half

• The Devils needed just four minutes to find the first goal of the match as Jeremy Sallade connected with Temple for the finish past Michael Griffith III.
• After Brendan Corpus and Nicolas Fonseca traded off-target shots, Westin Fryberger linked up with Temple for his second in the 12th minute.
• Alvernia halved the deficit just under eight minutes later with Chase Malone solving Gavin Marr.
• Dickinson netted their third goal of the period during the 25th minute as Griffith III turned aside Sallade before he slipped a pass to Fryberger, who found the back of the net.
• Marr was called upon two more times to keep the score where it was, denying Bobby Lockard and Grayson Kelley.
• Mika Rafidimahavonjy had one final look at adding onto the advantage, but he hit the crossbar with 61 seconds left.

Second half

• The home side had a great opportunity to cut the margin to one less than a minute in, as a foul on Rowan Jensen resulted in a penalty kick. Jackson Taliani would step up to the spot from 12 yards away and miss the mark, allowing DC to maintain the 3-1 edge.
• Andrew Etkin took over between the sticks in half number two, and he was tested by Fryberger, Sallade and Temple, but he was up to the task on all of them.
• However, the Red and White would get to him during the 69th minute as Dwamena struck unassisted.
• Both Etkin and Marr notched a stop between minutes 75 and 80, which then set the stage for Chase Bartman to make it 4-2.
• Dickinson answered back just over four minutes later with Henry Schultz besting Etkin, before Axel Solano tallied in the final minute, setting the 5-3 result.
