CARLISLE, Pa. – The Dickinson football team suffered its first loss to a Division III opponent on Saturday afternoon as host Franklin and Marshall College retained possession of the Conestoga Wagon with a 17-7 win at Shadek Stadium.
First quarter
- Neither team could get anything going with its opening drives, leading to F&M beginning a drive on its own 13. Six runs out of the Diplomats’ first seven plays advanced them to the midfield line. A Jadon Prinzivalli pass to Jack Harrison and a Prinzivalli scamper pushed the ball to the DC30. Three consecutive incompletions made it fourth down, which was when Prinzivalli rushed for five yards, before being stopped by Juan Pablo Garcia.
- The ensuing Dickinson possession went three-and-out, forcing a Michael Furlong punt to the FMC37 to end the frame.

Second quarter
- The Diplomats needed just 44 seconds to grab a 7-0 lead as Prinzivalli found Harrison for a long pass down to the DC9. On the following play, Anthony Valdez took the ball around the right side for a touchdown (Michael Fleming kick).
- With Dickinson beginning on its own 25, three consecutive runs by Dane Sorensen moved the march to the DC42. However, back-to-back incompletions by Ben Klassen resulted in another Furlong punt to the FMC35.
- The Red and White got the ball right back just two plays later when Kaufman stepped in front of the Prinzivalli pass, setting up the visitors on the FMC45. The rushing combination of Jake Williams and Sorensen nudged things up to the FMC28 before Klassen connected with Kevin Schmidt for 10. F&M stood tall defensively, forcing a fourth-down incompletion from Klassen to Braden White.
- Using a strong rushing attack of Louis Paris and Prinzivalli, the Diplomats worked themselves to the DC38. Prinzivalli then found Matt Eitner for 33 to the DC5. Three straight runs for Paris ended with him finding the end zone for the 14-0 lead (Fleming kick).
- With just under two minutes remaining, Dickinson began on its own 25. Receptions by Colin Sullivan and Schmidt advanced the Devils to the FMC29. An 8-yard rush for Klassen coupled with a 6-yard strike to Schmidt gave DC a chance to get some points prior to the break, but the 32-yard kick for Hudson Reese went off target.
Third quarter
- After Dickinson’s defense forced a punt on the opening drive of the half, three runs by and a pass to Sorensen had the guests into F&M territory on the 39. Klassen then linked up with Gavin Hutz in the middle of the field for a touchdown and cut the lead to 14-7 (Reese kick).
- The Devils defense once again put forth a good effort on the following Diplomats drive as they forced Fleming to come out and try a 51-yard field goal to try to extend the margin to double digits, which he ultimately did, making it 17-7 through three.
Fourth quarter
- Following a Furlong punt to begin the frame, the quartet of Brett Wolski, Paris, Prinzivalli and Valdez combined for nine consecutive runs to work down to the DC6 facing fourth-and-two. Paris was stuffed for a gain of just one by Garcia to give the ball back to the Devils.
- Dickinson had two more possessions the rest of the game, but they both ended with turnovers, allowing the Diplomats to hold onto the coveted Wagon.
