TRENTON, N.J. — The Trenton Thunder blanked the Harrisburg Senators 4-0 to complete the four-game series sweep. Three Thunder pitchers combined for the three-hit shutout as the Senators dropped their fifth straight game.
Trenton opened the scoring with a pair of runs in the first. With one out, Senators starter Luis Reyes issued back-to-back walks. One batter later, Trey Amburgey drove in both runners with a two RBI single to give Trenton the early 2-0 advantage.
Brandon Drury added to the lead with a solo home run in the third.
The Thunder plated their final run in the fifth when Abiatal Avelino walked, stole second, reached third on an error and scored on a wild pitch to make it 4-0 Trenton.
Reyes (2-3) allowed four runs, two earned, on three hits while striking out one and walking four across five innings.
Relievers Austen Williams and Kaleb Fleck combined to shutout Trenton over the final three innings.
Trenton starter Ryan Bollinger did not allowed a hit until back-to-back singles by Yadiel Hernandez and Kelvin Gutierrez with two outs in the sixth. Bollinger (1-0) tossed six shutout innings and limited the Senators to two hits and two walks.
The Senators recorded just one more hit the rest of the game as Trenton finished the sweep with a 4-0 victory in the series finale.
Kelvin Gutierrez collected two of the Senators’ three hits as he finished 2-3 with a walk.
