BOWIE, Md. — Juan Soto hit a two-run homer in the fifth inning, leading the Harrisburg Senators to a 5-2 win over the Bowie Baysox on Wednesday in the second game of a doubleheader.
Corban Joseph hit a walk-off solo homer for Bowie that won the opener, a continuation of a game suspended by rain Tuesday night, 5-4 early in the afternoon.
Derek Self got Anthony Santander to ground out with runners on first and third to end the second game for his third save of the season.
The home run by Soto capped a three-run inning and gave the Senators a 4-2 lead after Daniel Johnson hit an RBI double earlier in the inning.
The Senators tacked on another run in the seventh when Taylor Gushue hit an RBI double, bringing home Johnson.
Harrisburg right-hander Luis Reyes (3-4) picked up the win after allowing two runs on five hits over five innings. Opposing starter Keegan Akin (4-4) took the loss in the Eastern League game after giving up four runs and seven hits over 5.1 innings.
The Senators tied the the first game 4-4 in the top of the sixth when Zach Collier scored on an error.
Reliever Paul Fry (3-0) went one scoreless inning, allowing two hits while striking out three to get the win. Roman Mendez (2-2) didn't record an out and allowed one run in the Eastern League game.
Ryan Mountcastle doubled twice and singled, driving home two runs in the win.
Soto singled three times for the Senators.
