READING — Taylor Gushue hit a grand slam in the second inning, and Kyle McGowin struck out 11 hitters over six innings as the Harrisburg Senators defeated the Reading Fightin Phils 8-3 on Tuesday.

The grand slam by Gushue scored Hunter Jones, Kelvin Gutierrez, and Dan Gamache to give the Senators a 6-0 lead.

McGowin (3-1) picked up the win after he walked one while allowing two runs and four hits.

Elniery Garcia (0-6) went two innings, allowing six runs and six hits in the Eastern League game. He also struck out five and walked four.

Zach Green doubled and singled three times, driving home three runs for the Fightin Phils.
