READING — Drew Ward smacked a two-run home run and had two hits, and Wirkin Estevez pitched six scoreless innings as the Harrisburg Senators topped the Reading Fightin Phils 5-3 on Wednesday.
Estevez (1-3) allowed four hits while striking out five and walking one to pick up the win.
Harrisburg started the scoring in the second inning when Osvaldo Abreu and Estevez hit RBI singles.
After Harrisburg added three runs in the top of the seventh, the Fightin Phils cut into the deficit in the home half when Austin Bossart hit a three-run homer.
Ranger Suarez (2-3) went six innings, allowing two runs and eight hits to take the tough loss in the Eastern League game. He also struck out one and walked four. Bossart homered and singled, driving home three runs for the Fightin Phils.
Senators reliever Roman Mendez pitched two scoreless innings for his third save of the season. Harrisburg improved to 4-2 against Reading this season.
