The no. 4 seeded West Shore rugby club defeated No. 2 seed Berks 33-17 in the Pennsylvania State High School Rugby Championship final on Saturday.

Cedar Cliff's Jack Quesenberry led the team with three penalty goals and one conversion to score 15 of the team's 33 points. Carlisle's Matt Carrion scored a try in the win.

Eagles fall in title game

No. 3 seeded Cumberland Valley fell to Gregory the Great 18-10 in the Pennsylvania State High School Rugby Championships title game on Sunday afternoon.

The Eagles defeated No. 2 seed West Allegheny 18-12 in the semifinal round on Saturday to make it to their fifth state final appearance in six years.

A long run in the first half by center Ruben Ibarra eventually set up fly half Max Abom, who scored a try to give CV a 15-12 lead.
