Friday night's double overtime hero, Justin Brautigam, scored the equalizer and Ben Haines notched the eventual game-winner to lead Messiah men's soccer to the NCAA Division III championship.
The Falcons beat North Park 2-1 on Saturday afternoon in Greensboro, North Carolina for their 11th national championship and first in four years. Messiah's 11 titles have come in the last 17 years.
The Vikings' Gustav Ericsson scored just 1:12 into the game. But Messiah only needed a few minutes to tie it up.
Quick passing fed Brautigam in the box and he headed the ball in to tie the game just 3:30 later on assists from Danny Brandt and Nick West. Then just before the half, Brit Haseltine and Joseph King found Haines.
It is Haines' first career goal.
The Messiah defense, led by two saves from Connor Bell, held firm the rest of the game. The Falcons allowed just six shots in the second half (14 for the game), but many came late in desperation time.
