  • Harrisburg Area Community College named the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III Women's Volleyball Championship for the second year in a row. The Hawks (22-1), which includes several Sentinel-area high school grads, qualified Saturday when it earned Region 19 Co-Champions by beating Montgomery County Community College 3-0. Sophomore hitter/libero Kara Starr was named the tournament's MVP. The NJCAA championships begin Nov. 14 in Rochester, Minnesota. HACC is ranked eighth in the 12-team field and will face No. 9 Jefferson Community College (NY) in the opener at 11 a.m. Local products on the Hawks include outside hitter Lindsey Johnson (Cumberland Valley), setter Lenisa Berrios (Carlisle), Starr (West Shore Christian), and middle hitter Hannah Van Pelt (Mechanicsburg).
  • Maddie Kohl and Sunny Gelnovatch scored a pair of goals each as Messiah women's soccer had no trouble with Albright in a 6-0 win Thursday night in the MAC Commonwealth tournament semifinals. The Falcons advance to face Arcadia in Saturday's championship game at noon.
  • Dickinson cross country picked up a couple awards Thursday. Junior Isabel Cardi was named the Centennial Conference Women's Runner of the Year, and Don Nichter was named the conference's Coach of the Year. Cardi is the 10th Red Devil to win the award. Sarah House was named First Team, Tessa Cassidy Second Team and Emma Johnston made the Sportsmanship Team. On the men's side, senior Bryce Descavish and sophomore Christopher Scharf made First Team and Second Team, respectively.
  • Five Shippensburg field hockey players made All-PSAC on Thursday. Junior midfielder Jazmin Petrantonio and senior defender Mikayla Cheney made First Team, making it three straight First Team picks for Petrantonio and two straight for Cheney. And Rosalia Cappadora, Jenna Sluymer and Sarah Womer made Second Team.
  • The College Sports Information Directors of America named Messiah's Brooke Firestone, Maddie Kohl, Cooper Robbins and Luke Groothoff to the Academic All-District men's and women's soccer teams Thursday.
