Carlisle’s Sarah Guistwite was one of three singles players to win Thursday in the team's District 3-opening win over New Oxford.

Carlisle's Sarah Guistwite continued her strong postseason with a silver medal at Saturday's District 3 Class 3A Girls Tennis Individual Championships.

Guistwite, who earlier this week beat teammate Meg Ulrich for the Mid-Penn crown, lost to Penn Manor's Catherine Rabatin 6-1, 6-1 at Hershey Racquet Club.

Guistwite still qualifies for the PIAA championships later this month. She beat Hershey's Caroline Corcoran in a thrilling 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (5) battle in the semifinals to start the day, less than 24 hours removed from a pair of straight-set victories in the first two rounds.

She was not the lone Cumberland County representative to make a final Saturday. East Pennsboro's Ava Lewis marched to the Class 2A championship match, where she lost to Lancaster Catholic's Riley Smith 7-6 (3), 6-2.

Lewis won her semifinal earlier 6-2, 6-2 over Berks Catholic's Rebekah Schnatz. Lewis also qualifies for states.

Carlisle and Guistwite return to action Monday at 3:30 against Hershey in the quarterfinals of the District 3 team tournament.
