With only two games last week, it was a great chance for us to recover after a vigorous start to the season. Having played a tough game on the previous Saturday, Coach Matt Billman gave us off on Monday and we showed up to practice on Tuesday with fresh legs ready to go. We spent Tuesday and Wednesday preparing for Chambersburg by reviewing corner kick defense, practicing pressing and going through finishing drills. By Thursday evening we were ready to play.
Our first match was against Chambersburg, one of the strongest teams in our conference. We came out in the first 10 minutes ready to play, pressing them hard and sending many close chances just over the bar. Despite this, the game remained 0-0 at halftime. The stalemate didn’t last long, though, because we came out even hungrier in the second half, and five minutes in we netted our first goal. Now aggravated, Chambersburg started to up their game and their student section began to shout and heckle louder. Within five minutes, they took advantage of a turnover in the midfield and tied the game 1-1. The game remained close for 10 minutes until we quickly scored two goals back-to-back, giving us a comfortable 3-1 lead. After this spurt, Chambersburg was deflated and the game finished 3-1, giving us our fifth win in a row.

We looked to use this momentum to our advantage as we headed into our next game on Saturday against Williamsport. Being over two hours away, it was a long bus ride early Saturday morning, but we passed the time by watching Remember the Titans, our favorite movie to watch for these long trips. With two starters injured, we needed two new players to step up for the beginning of the game. We played strong the whole game, possessing and dominating the full 80 minutes and winning 3-0.
Now 6-1 on the season, including six wins in a row, spirits are high and the vibe of the team is more positive than I have ever seen.
