Molly Snyder In My Words

This weekend we traveled to Lehigh University to compete in the Paul Short Invitational.

This invitational gave us the opportunity to watch both high school and college races. We took our varsity lineup on Friday and spent the night for our race on Saturday. This trip always brings our varsity team closer together.

On the girls’ side, I know that we do almost everything together already and this trip is just something fun we get to do. This year, before we left, we decorated the van with window markers. That way we could not only know which van is ours, but the other teams knew who we are. The drive up is always a blast and consists of singing, dancing and laughing. Someone always brings a speaker and is then the designated DJ for the weekend. They are to play any song that the whole group knows and could sing along to easily. There was a lot of Sean Kingston reminding us that we are “Beautiful Girls.”

Arriving at dinner and the hotel were times for us to chill. We would play card games, watch movies, eat, and of course, chat with the coaches. We were one of many lucky teams where on Saturday we didn’t have to run until almost 4 p.m. So we got to volunteer at a local 5K as cheerleaders, then from there go to watch the colleges run and chat with college coaches. The rest of the day was like any other meet day.

Until the ride home, which in the girls van was a repeat of the drive up.
