Our hard work throughout the season really showed this past week.
During our games this week we were missing many players. Some of them were very key players such as Alex Rigling, Jared Payne, Christian Holtzapple and Avery Arnold. Through this adversity we were still able to pull out two wins, both being marginal victories. The first one was against the Shamrocks with a score of 5-2 and the second one coming against Elizabethtown with a score of 7-2.
As said before in past papers, our motto of “next man up” was put to the test in these games. Without some of those key players we had to turn to some players that have not been called upon before. Jesse Troutman showed up big, as usual, with two goals and two assists, and Nolan Zortman also showed up big on the stat sheet with two assists.
Counting down to playoff season, we will need everyone to contribute as one. We will need the leading scorers to keep scoring and the rest of the guys to step up too if we want to make a deep run. For the Seniors, this is exactly what we want to happen during our last year. Many of us have been playing with each other since we started playing hockey and we all want to end it with a cup.
Our season is dwindling down and we will give it our all knowing we don’t have many games left. Still, we will still be cherishing every moment of them. Look out for us to be fully loaded again this Friday at Twin Ponds West when we face off against Dallastown at 9:15.
