What a game we had this week. It was our best game of the year.
All of the emotions were running high for us this week. With it being our last regular season game of the year and our senior night, it meant everything to us. Not only was it important for those reasons, but this game would also decide who would come out as the No. 1 seed going into playoffs.
As the No. 1 seed, you gain the first-round bye and home ice advantage in all games in the playoffs. This game was like no other for everyone on the team, from the freshmen to the seniors and the coaches. Everyone was zoned in and ready to go from the second we got to the rink. Mr. Daily helped to pump us up and did a great job with speeches for senior night, while Nancy Zimmerman was there to take great pictures of us for Zimpics.
After our senior night ceremony, we brought the energy from the first shift of the game. We came out hungry, hitting and flying around the ice. Christian Holtzapple scored a big goal and it was the only one that we would need for the win. Behind a shutout game from our goalie Billy Keeney, we ended up beating Warwick 1-0. We controlled the tempo of the game and we never looked back from the time we stepped on the ice.
Warwick was on their heels the whole game and could not get anything going. This was not only a big win for us for seeding and it being senior night, but for our team morale. We could not put together a complete game and were in a slump during our past couple games before this one. As a team, we need to be able to carry this momentum into playoffs. With this game, we are just realizing our team’s potential and are excited for the run we can put together.
Come out and support us in our first playoff game on Monday against Penn Manor at Twin Ponds East at 7.
