As of late, our team has been having trouble with starting off slow.
We have been letting our opponents take it to us at the beginning of the games, and it has been hurting us. We have been able to come back from this, but it is not something that we want to get comfortable with doing.
When we play the top teams in our division in the coming weeks, we may not be able to pull off the same magic we have been doing. In our game this past Friday against Dallastown, we went down early, 2-1. The team came out slow and not ready to play. We had some opportunities, but could not finish. Then to start the second period, our coach made some changes in the lineup.
Within 3:50 remaining, we put four pucks in the back of the net, and from that point on, the tide of the game changed. The momentum got rolling in our favor and we would go on to score five more goals. The final score ended up being 10-2.
The change-up in lines really helped to change the energy of the game and sparked the team. This week we will need to start off strong since we are playing a good team in Hempfield, who is third in the division. A big crowd and student section will be needed in this big tilt between two of the upper tier teams going into playoffs. Gametime is 7:15 at Twin Ponds West on Monday. Come support the team and watch a great matchup.
