The best thing a student section can have is a great mascot. At Big Spring, I am convinced we not only have one of them, but we have the best Central PA has to offer. I am of course talking about Jaime Yaukey, our resident Bulldog.
Mascots bring to a student section things students can’t regularly do. She cheers with the cheerleaders, performs halftime routines and has so many dance moves it is hard to keep up with. She has also done so much more in helping to plan all of our student sections. Weekly when we get together she always has ideas to make the theme bigger and better in some way. For instance, with the previously discussed brown out idea, she suggest we buy brown accents (little glasses, beads and more) just to add a little more humor to the whole idea.
During the games she will always suggest ideas to me for cheers, which is quite nice because you never want a gym or field to be quiet. That is the great thing about student sections, anyone can lead or participate. Whether Jaime is suggesting ideas within the suit or someone in the stands wants to do a certain cheer, we do almost anything.
With that said, Big Spring has been truly blessed with being able to cheer with one of the best mascots the area has to offer.
