Carlisle varsity field hockey coach Cecelia Clippinger became the head coach in 2015.

Carlisle's school board is expected to approve the hiring of James Ruff as the Thundering Herd's new softball coach, according to the board's meeting agenda.

The board has its next meeting Thursday. Ruff will replace Joey V. Sullenberger, who was fired several weeks ago after he was arrested and charged with sexual assault.

Sullenberger was hired in September, replacing longtime area varsity coach Nyle Monismith, who retired as Carlisle's head coach in the summer.

He coached teams for PA Avalanche Fast Pitch Softball and was on the West Perry coaching staff in recent years.

Two coaches resign

Carlisle will also be looking for two new head coaches. The board is expected to accept the resignations of field hockey coach Cecelia Clippinger and golf coach Lucas Zampelli.

Clippinger has been in charge of Herd field hockey since 2015. She previously served as an assistant coach for a two stints and spent time as an assistant at Dickinson College.

She is married to girls soccer head coach Greg Clippinger. Their son, Josh, was an impact basketball player at Carlisle and Messiah College and is currently in preseason training with a semi-pro team in Australia in Basketball South Australia's Men's Premier League.
