HERSHEY — Coming into the PIAA Class 3A Girls Cross Country Championship at Parkview Cross Country Course, you could say Meg Lebo and Carlisle didn’t put expectations on how they would do.

“I did not expect to do as well as I did,” Lebo said. “My main concern was just finishing.”

And finish she did. Lebo finished her race in 36th-place with a time of 19:37, something she was “very excited about.” Especially after dealing with an ornery injury all season — an issue with the growth plate in her hip.

“I’ve been struggling with an injury, so I’ve only been able to train like, three weeks,” Lebo said with a laugh. “To be able to come out and race, and be able to help my team is great.”

It’s surely something the Thundering Herd were proud of — and that Lebo hasn’t lost her sense of humor through all of it.

“It’s super fun,” Lebo said sarcastically about the injury. “I really enjoyed it.”

Carlisle as a whole finished the day at No. 15 with 329 points.

“With the girls, we kind of knew this was our last meet,” Lebo said. “We just really wanted to go out and finish as well as we could. And I think we did that today.

“It was a really good day.”

Teammate Savannah Hossfield finished the day at No. 98 with a time of 20:26, Julia Ledgett finished at No. 159 with a time of 21:12 and Addison Jastron finished 163rd with a time of 21:14.

Cumberland Valley ended the day with Marie Rulapaugh placing 124th with a time of 20:46.
