Northern’s Marlee Starliper won her second straight PIAA cross country title and narrowly missed out on the state track 1600 crown in her junior year. Her efforts earned her Athlete of the Year.

Here’s another honor to Marlee Starliper’s ever-growing list:

The Northern rising senior is a USA Today All-USA distance runner.

The teams were announced July 9, and the Polar Bears sensation was one of five girls on the middle and long distance team.

Starliper’s awards and records this past season included her repeat in the PIAA cross country championship, District 3 track and field gold in the 1600 and 3200, state silver in the 1600 and most recently the 3K championship at the USA Track & Field Junior Championships in Florida in June.

Her USATF win came after she won gold at the New Balance Outdoor Championships in the mile. In Florida, she qualified for the Pan-American Games held July 19-21 after running a 9:29.39.

Starliper was just named The Sentinel’s Girls Athlete of the Year for the 2018-19 school year.
