  • Mid-Penn Colonial champ Shippensburg was no match for No. 6 Spring Grove, getting routed 58-34 in the first round of the District 3 Class 5A playoffs Tuesday night. The No. 11 Greyhounds (15-9), hung with the Rockets in the first quarter, trailing just 16-13, but Spring Grove pulled away after that and never looked back. Leading scorer Mariah Martin paced Shippensburg with 11 points, while Kara Newell added nine and Tori Rumbaugh had eight. The Rockets were led by Haley Wagman’s 17.
  • West Perry was the only victorious local team in District 3 play Tuesday, picking off Susquehanna Twp. 44-41 in a road upset. Haylee Reisinger’s 15 points (three 3-pointers) and Margrett Brown’s 14 led the No. 9 Mustangs (16-7) to the Class 4A quarterfinals against top seed Lancaster Catholic (24-0). West Perry is guaranteed at least two more games; District 3 sends six to states out of Class 5A.
