A hot-shooting effort from range gave Cumberland Valley an early boost, but it didn’t last.

The Eagles fell to Abington 69-44 in Saturday’s PIAA Class 6A first round at Council Rock South High School.

Against Villanova commit Eric Dixon and the Galloping Ghosts, CV shot 7-of-12 from 3-point land in the first half, according to PAPrepLive’s Andrew Robinson, which kept Abington in sight, 36-29 at the break. CV held a second-quarter lead briefly.

But Dixon and Lucas Monroe proved too much offensively, scoring 24 points apiece and recording double-doubles, according to PAPreLive. The District 1 champs have won 26 straight and face Pennridge in Wednesday’s second round.

Harris Vorwald counted with a team-high 15 points for CV. He and Dylan Bazulka (12 points) each had three 3s, and Ethan Levis (10 points) had two more for District 3’s sixth seed.

  • Jake Perry scored 19 points and Greg Labine added 11 more, but Camp Hill fell to District 12’s Bishop McDevitt 69-54 in the PIAA Class 3A first round. Jon Fagan added 10 for the Lions, who made six 3s. The Royal Lancers, who will face District 4 champ Loyalsock Township in Wednesday’s second round, got 18 points from Jamil Manigo.
