Cumberland Valley is seeking a new boys basketball head coach one year after hiring Eric Richardson.

A job post on was posted Tuesday. The reason for Richardson’s departure less than 10 months after being hired was not immediately known.

The Sentinel reached out to Richardson, but as of press time had not gotten a response. An email to the athletic department Tuesday night, shortly after The Sentinel learned of the job post, did not get an immediate response.

Richardson replaced longtime friend Mike Hibbs after Hibbs stepped down following the 2016-17 season to move with his family to Florida. Hibbs went 92-96 in eight seasons with the Eagles.

Richardson took over and was immediately handed a tough task. He was without four of the previous year’s starters, and that number grew to five a few weeks later when Josiah Burns transferred to Pocono Mountain West.

The completely rebuilt Eagles managed to stay competitive this season, going 9-13 (6-8 Mid-Penn Commonwealth) and finishing within striking distance of the last District 3 Class 6A playoff spot for much of the season.

The Sentinel will have more on this story as information becomes available.
