When I vote this year, one of the most important issues for me is what the candidates will do to keep our kids safe and to help victims of domestic violence. I will be voting for Sean Quinlan for the Pa. State House because he is a strong advocate of reforming gun control laws.
Tragedies like Sandy Hook should have driven our leaders to action, but years have passed and more recent shootings like Parkland show that nothing has changed.
Sean Quinlan supports gun reforms that should be seen as reasonable to everybody, such as background checks for all gun sales, and restoring the effective Federal Assault Weapons Ban. He also supports “Extreme Risk Protection Orders” (or “red flag laws”), which temporarily get guns out of the hands of people who are an immediate risk to their family, their community, or themselves. These should be simple reforms, but we need representatives in Harrisburg that aren’t afraid to take on NRA lobbyists.
Until we take real action, school shootings and domestic violence will continue unabated. We need to elect leaders who will fight for our safety, and that’s why Sean Quinlan has my vote.
