On Thursday, May 16, Employment Skills Center held its 8th annual Carlisle Downtown Mile. This year brought record-breaking numbers with more than 780 participants. The beautiful weather brought with it an increase in the number of spectators who came out to watch and cheer on the walkers and runners, as well as an increase in teams for the Team Challenge. The race took place on a 1-mile stretch of High Street and brought with it lots of excitement, family fun, fitness, and a gathering of the community for an exciting evening out in downtown Carlisle.
This event is made possible through the generous support of our sponsors, including UPMC Pinnacle (Premier) Carlisle Construction Materials (Kid’s Alley), Members 1st Federal Credit Union (Beer Garden), Appalachian Running Company, Orrstown Bank, Giant Food Stores, Daily Express, Inc., Mountz Jewelers, Visiting Angels, Gannett Fleming, Abom & Kutulakis, Dewberry, and Rick & Lorelei Coplen. We thank you!
A special thank you to everyone who came out and supported the event as runners, walkers, spectators, vendors, mascots, and sponsors. Thank you to our volunteers who helped make it all happen through their generous gifts of time and talents.
Kid’s Alley and the Beer Garden provided lots of fun and entertainment this year thanks to our many vendors and sponsors. We would like to extend a big thank you to Subway Car Wash, JFC Workforce, Hope Station, Martin’s Snacks, Benefit Connections, and My Fantasy Party for their contributions.
