Dear Editor:

The recent controversial opinions by ex-NFL player Colin Kaepernick and musician Taylor Swift serve a warning that, despite the freedom of speech, that when celebrities take ignorant stances on any issue there will be consequences.

Taylor Swift recently made a music video/song "You need to calm down" that depicts people with Christian beliefs on marriage as one man and one woman — as God designed for human procreation — as ugly people, while depicting gays, living a chosen sin lifestyle, as wholesome.

God’s word, The Bible, calls this lifestyle choice an abomination: Jude 7, Romans 1:18-32, and 1 Corinthians 6:9-10. God created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve or Amy and Eve. Swift's actions are biased and mean spirited. Miss Swift is entitled to her free speech and leftist opinion, yet shall lose half her fan base, including country music fans like myself who are overwhelmingly conservative and Christian.

Second, ex-NFL player Kaepernick protested against Nike over their new sneakers. Nike caved into his ignorant demands to play social justice. Epic fail for Nike — they will lose business for this. Nike wimps out on the Betsy Ross flag emblem simply because Collin Kaepernick is ignorant of history.

This flag was created while we were still part of a Great Britain that actively took part in the slave trade. This early version of the flag is pulled from the slavery era. The Civil War ended slavery as did our separation from Great Britain, so time to stop living past grievances and move on.

There is a cautionary warning to those celebrities and businesses that are ignorant of real history and real truth the Bible stands for — you can say whatever you want to, just remember that the boycott pendulum swings both ways, as conservative Christians can just as easily boycott you back, thus denying you revenue.
