Dear Editor:

I noticed on page A10 of the July 29 The Sentinel that the city of Davenport, Iowa, is planning to build a wall to keep from being flooded. Of course, that wall will have some gates in it, to allow entry of elements determined to be beneficial to the city. What an idea!

Please note that the governor of the state is a Republican and the mayor of the city is an independent. I judge that is the reason there have been no cries of toilet water or concentration camps as of yet.

Just wait until Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, Adam Schiff and AOC find out about this! There’ll be the mother of all hissy fits! After all, walls to keep things out are ‘immoral’ according to Nancy and her acolytes, except for the wall around her own home, the fence around the White House, the wall around the Obama Estate and the Clinton Estate in Chappaqua, New York, and others.

Democrats were for a wall, before they were against it. I’m betting Beto O’Rourke will show up, shouting his new slogan, “Walls don’t save lives!”

Maybe they should get in touch with the mayor of Davenport to see just how beneficial and safe a wall can be. Nah, that would be silly of them; they’d have to consider facts, and that is directly opposed to their sworn duties.
