Dear Editor:

The upcoming primary election will be critical for Silver Spring Township. There are four Republicans running for only two seats on the Board of Supervisors.

Bob Walker is an attorney who specializes in real estate. He is running with Sam Herbert, a relatively recent arrival to Silver Spring.

In sharp contrast to the aforementioned candidates and clearly better choices are Nancy Konhaus Griffie and Laura Brown. Laura has distinguished herself by serving on the township Land Preservation Committee, of which she chairs. She has spearheaded a number of preservation efforts, been an energetic volunteer and understands the workings of the township. Nancy Griffie is a lifelong township resident who brings a good business head to the township government. She has been a faithful, dedicated member of the township Board of Supervisors for 12 years and has been a tireless advocate for Silver Spring residents.

Clearly, these two women have shown their dedication and commitment to our township and have earned the privilege of continued service here. Please cast your vote for them in the upcoming primary.

If you are a member of the Democratic party, we strongly encourage you to write them in on your ballot.
