I ask voters to please consider voting on May 21 to re-elect me to the Carlisle Area School District Board. I am a passionate advocate for public education and believe that a strong school system is important to the quality of life for all of us who live in Carlisle, Mt. Holly Springs, North Middleton Township, and Dickinson Township. I am committed to assuring a quality education for our more than 5,200 students.
Since being elected to the school board, I have supported the recruitment and retention of highly qualified teachers, improving our middle school educational programs, and expanding educational opportunities for all students. This included strengthening career and technology offerings, adding more rigorous courses for accelerated students, and assuring that our most vulnerable students have the support they need.
During the last several years I have served as school board president, and work to make sure that our diverse community has the opportunity to make their views known to the board, we consider new ideas and alternatives, we assure the responsible use of taxpayer money, and that district leadership is held accountable for meeting student needs. I also advocate for our district to work collaboratively with community organizations and area businesses to support our students.
My husband and sons are graduates of Carlisle High School. I have lived in the greater Carlisle community for more than 40 years and have volunteered and supported many local organizations serving our youth. Currently, I volunteer in an elementary classroom and see firsthand the work of our teachers and support staff. I recently became a court-appointed special advocate (CASA) volunteer and have learned a great deal about the needs of students in foster care.
Please vote for me on May 21 for the Carlisle Area School District Board.
