Services for G. Benjamin Adair, 89, formerly
of New Cumberland, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 21 in
Trinity United Methodist Church, 421 Bridge St., New
He died Wednesday, June 12, 1997 in Auburn, Calif.
Born July 29, 1907 in Perry County, he was the son of the late
Russel and Edith Wolfe Adair and the widower of Adaline Shettle
Mr. Adair was a former partner and president of Merchant's Grocery,
Wholesale Food Distributors, Harrisburg and was associated with
Central Pennsylvania AAA Motor Club & Travel Agency in
membership and insurance sales for 25 years.
He was a 50 year member of Trinity United Methodist Church, New
Cumberland at which he was past president of the men's Bible class;
a 50 member and past member of West Shore Lodge No. 681,
F&AM, Camp Hill; Harrisburg Consistory; Zembo Temple Shrine
Club and its Luncheon Club and Past Presidents Club, Harrisburg;
New Cumberland Retired Men's Club; and Perry County Historical
He was also past president of Cumberland County Shrine Club and a
charter member of the Hershey Shrine Club.
Surviving are a son, Larry R. of Auburn, Calif.; a sister, Wilma
Diller of Shiremanstown; and two grandsons.
His pastor, the Rev. Carl F. Peterson will officiate Saturday's
service. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
