• Katherine Yufer, 82, of R. 220 Church St., Mill Hall, died Sunday, Nov. 9, 1997 in Williamsport.

    Born Sept. 3, 1915 in Maynard, Iowa, she was the daughter of the late Boyd and Minnie Guritz Allen. She was married Dec. 12, 1936 to John H. Yufer, who died March 1, 1978.

    She attended Mill Hall United Methodist Church.

    She was a homemaker and had worked at Piper Aircraft during W.W. II and at General Armature for several years following the war.

    She was a member of the Mill Hall Fire Company Auxiliary and also enjoyed playing cards, painting and hooking rugs.

    Survivors include two sons, Allan R. Yufer of Mill Hall and William H. Yufer of Carlisle; one sister, Adeline Leone of RR 4, Mill Hall; three brothers, Elmer Allen of Lock Haven, Calvin L. Allen of RR 3, Mill Hall, and Robert L. Allen of Williamsport; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

    Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Dean K. Wetzler, Jr. Funeral Home, 320 Main St., Mill Hall, with the Rev. Bethany Wood officiating.

    Burial will be in the Rest Haven Memorial Park, Lock Haven Rd.

    Friends may call Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. The Mill Hall Fire Co. Auxiliary will hold a memorial service at 7 p.m.

  • Walter Bertram Sr., 77, of Dillsburg died Sunday at home.

    He was born Oct. 2, 1920 in Germany, a son of the late Frederick and Rose Bertram. He was the widower of Evelyn and Dorothy Bertram.

    He was a member of Shepherdstown United Methodist Church and was an Army veteran of WW II.

    Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Walter and Mary Bertram, and his daughter and son-in-law, Arlene and Jim Bosserman, all of Dillsburg; a brother, Ernest Bertram of Toms River, N.J.; and two grandsons, Christian and Stephen Bertram.

    Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in his church with the Rev. James. C. Bonsell officiating. Burial will be in Grantham Memorial Cemetery, Upper Allen Township.

    Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

    Malpezzi Funeral Home, 8 Market Plaza Way, Mechanicsburg is in charge of arrangements.

  • Franklin S. Rhinehart, 74, of 107 Oxford Rd., Gardners died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 1997 at Carlisle Hospital.

    Arrangements will be announced by the Gibson-Hollinger Funeral Home, 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt. Holly Springs when complete.
