ARCHBALD, Pa. (AP) — Authorities say the crash of an all-terrain vehicle over the weekend in northeastern Pennsylvania claimed the lives of a man and woman.

Police in Lackawanna County said the ATV struck a tree in Scott Township at about 7 p.m. in Scott Township near Archbald.

Coroner Timothy Rowland said Ronald Webb, 30, of Scranton was pronounced dead shortly after 9:30 p.m. at Geisinger Community Medical Center. He said Courtney Reeves,31, of Falls Township died at about 2 p.m. Monday at the hospital. Both died of multiple traumatic injuries, he said.

Chief Jared Ganz of the township police department said he didn't believe speed was a factor and called it “just an unfortunate accident.” He said both riders were wearing helmets at the time of the crash, which occurred on a dirt road that connects with Route 247 near the Archbald line.
