It seems clear from your May 27 story ("Rothman: Redistricting always political") that State Rep. Greg Rothman is not really grasping the message his constituents are sending to all political representatives in Pennsylvania. So, let me paraphrase their message so few can miss it.
"This is our Commonwealth. You work for us. We do not want you to have this role. Give it back to us."
The only appropriate answer for current public servants like Rothman and would-be public servants like me is that we understand and will do all we can to return this authority to the public as quickly as possible. There is no ethical response that includes an implication that the public will be "political" too.

Pennsylvania is one of the worst states for gerrymandering. This is an effort to avoid the authority of the voters. Pennsylvania voters see this clearly and have a preferred redistricting fix sponsored in the General Assembly. Public servants in both chambers should make the implementation of this fix their highest priority.
