When is the new steakhouse expected to open in South Middleton Township?
Roughly four years after a fire destroyed a Bonanza restaurant in the 900 block of Walnut Bottom Road in South Middleton Township, a new steakhouse is slated to take its place.
Construction is underway for a new steakhouse known as Walnut Bottom Road Keystone Steak and Seafood at the former Bonanza location. The new restaurant is expected to open in early to mid-October, according to South Middleton Township Supervisor Tom Faley.
Faley said there have been several code inspections of the site and there have had no issues.
The original Bonanza restaurant burned down in October 2013. The property was sold to RB Investments in December for $950,000.
The new restaurant is expected to be largely the same size and in the same location as the former Bonanza restaurant. The new 7,700-square-foot restaurant with parking for 95 vehicles is expected to seat roughly 250 people and have about 20 employees.
Plans for a building permit were submitted by McCoy Bros. Inc. in March.
The site had been a potential home to a Sheetz, but those plans fell through because of concerns about traffic and the environment.
