A Carlisle-area man has turned himself in to police after seeing media coverage of an investigation into a hit-and-run crash involving a struck pedestrian in Silver Spring Township on Oct. 29.

Robert Hebbard II, 58, saw media reports of the crash and, on Oct. 30, called township police to report he was the one they were looking for in their investigation.

Township police were looking into a crash where a pedestrian was injured in the 7000 block of Wertzville Road about 6:54 p.m. while trying to clear a tree from the road.

Police said Hebbard came to the station on Nov. 2 and admitted to being the driver of the vehicle involved in the crash. He is being charged with one misdemeanor count of accidents involving death or personal injury and the summary offenses of duty to give information and render aid, immediate notice of accident to police department and driving at safe speed.
