Each week, The Sentinel publishes stories we receive to prompts in Kids World and on www.cumberlink.com. This week’s Kids Speak Out prompt was “The part of my day that I like best is ...”

“The part of my day that I like best is recess, and don’t think I’m being like ‘O, look at me. Recess is the best because we get to not learn and play for about 20 minutes.’ Because I’m not. I choose recess because you get to exercise your body and bones when you’re not in gym class. Plus you can break a sweat and get vitamin D. That is why recess is the best in my opinion.”

“The part of my day that I like best is at home. I like to play so much and watch TV. I love to watch TV and I like playing board games. All that stuff is my favorite.”

“The part of my day that I like best is swimming and helping my mom cook. I like swimming because I have been doing swimming for the past four years and the competition is so fun. I also love helping my mom cook (because) I already know some of the foods. And if I keep cooking, I might make my own food by myself. And it’s a great practice for me.”

“The part of my day that I like best is school because it is fun. I like learning new things and recess. I like gym. I like to run. I like learning to write, too.”

“The part of my day that I like best is when I get home from school. One reason I like this part of my day is I get to eat (an) after-school snack. After I eat my fruits, I get to eat junk food. Also, sometimes, I can have ice cream or cake. Plus, sometimes, I get to eat several pieces of Halloween candy. This all goes with when I get home from school where I can finally be free. I can have time to play outside, practice my instruments or do hobbies.”

Liliana Gulde, 9

“The part of my day that I like best is when I daydream about what I’m doing in the future. It’s always nice to see what movie I’m making in the future. Characters that I make will include real life characters, such as me! I’ll also pass this down generation to generation. And if you’re reading this in 30 years ... you’re hired!”
