Each week, The Sentinel publishes stories we receive to prompts in Kids World and on www.cumberlink.com. This week’s Kids Speak Out prompt was “If I were principal of the school, I would ...”

“If I were principal of the school, I would let everybody eat ice cream. Also, I would make every Friday a French Fries Friday where you get free french fries. Also, I would put a soda and snack machine in every room so you don’t get thirsty or hungry. Last, I would make recess an hour so we can have kickball tournaments.”

“If I were principal of the school, I would be kind, and if children went to my office, I would talk to them and see how to help them listen to their teacher. I would help the teachers to help the students with projects and baking stuff. I would make the lunch ladies have a break during the day. I would pray for strength to guide everyone in the school from evil.”

“If I was the principal of the school, I would have monthly awards for the student that worked the hardest. I would also have Pizza Fridays. I would give the class that read the most books ice cream. If students get a certain amount of colored cards, they can get a prize.”

“If I were the principal of the school, I would have parties every Friday. Also, I would have an indoor pool. The water would be chocolate, and the diving boards would be made from chocolate bars. At the parties, there will be cupcakes, crafts and more. Plus, we would have all of the regular parties, like a Valentine’s Day party where we hand out Valentine’s, a winter’s party where we get to make snow globes and get food and watch a movie, and also have an Easter, Halloween and back-to-school party.”

“If I were principal of the school, I would let everyone have a dress down day and have ice cream, even me. We did not learn. We played all day long and it was fun, but then it came to the end of the day. I went home and realized that kids have to learn so every day can’t be the same as that day.”

“If I were the principal of the school, I would give extra recess, and I would get footballs. I would have a Popcorn Friday. I would get baseballs. I would get kick balls. I would get soccer balls. I would get water fountains outside.”

“If I were the principal of the school, I would have recess for an hour and I would get cool new equipment, like a trampoline. And I would have awesome parties every day with candy and cake.”

“If I were the principal of the school, I would not allow any electronics of any sort at school. I would even set up a scanner that scans pockets and backpacks. If someone says a bad word, they would be sent straight to my office. If people were behaving, I would give them a choice of any type of dessert for their whole class or an hour of iPad time.”
