Each week, The Sentinel publishes stories we receive to prompts in Kids World and on www.cumberlink.com. This week’s Kids Speak Out prompt was “If I ran a farm, I would have ...”

“If I ran a farm, I would have a horse because I would like to ride her. I would dance while I groomed her. I would name her Luna and her last name would be Magic because I really like the sound of it. I would have fun feeding her, and we would play. At night I would give her an electric blanket and read her a story.”

“If I ran a farm, I would have horses, sheep, pigs, cows, goats, hay, slop, wheat, goat food and a hound dog. I did not forget the dog food though. I will have a home, barn, and a tractor. I will have food, and I will have chickens to and seats to feed them on.”

“If I ran a farm, it would have:

  • Pigs because pigs are cool.
  • Baby pigs because they are so cute!
  • Horses because one of my friends loves horses.
  • Cows because they are big and their skin is cool.
  • Dragons because they breathe fire, but they’re not real.
  • Baby dragons because training them would be so cute.
  • Baby cows because I love baby cows.
  • Baby horses because the’re perfect for me, all my friends and for my family to ride them.”

“If I ran a farm, I would have pigs, mud, and lots of other things. Most of all I would have a barn. For my veggies I would have carrots, celery, potatoes and more. For my fruits I would have apples, bananas, pears and much much more.”

“If I ran a farm, I would have a lot of animals! I love animals, so why not have a lot of animals. Also, animals are really really cute (well some of them). Dogs also can be on the farm, and dogs are like one of my favorite animals. I would also want to grow plants. We need plants, so why not grow plants. Also, I would want to stay healthy.”

Bree Kretzing, 9

Grade 4

LeTort Elementary School

“If I ran a farm, I would have dogs, cats, cows, balls, horses, sheep, and goats. I would ride the horses, milk the cows, and sheer the sheep. I would have to feed every animal on the farm. I would have to mow the fields and wash the animals. I would sell the milk, play with the dog and have a great time!”

Hunter B., 8

Grade 2

St. Patrick School

“If I ran a farm, I would have video games. Not everyone likes to go to a farm in the middle of nowhere just to pet animals and get some vegetables. You can go to a zoo that’s closer and do that. If people come to my farm, they can have all the fun they want. People who like certain games but can’t play them every day, they can come to my farm and play for free. You can have fun with friends and family. That is what I would have on a farm if I ran one.”

Jayden Rosario, 10

Grade 4

“If I had a farm, my farm would be more like a zoo. I would have six cows, three dogs, one cat, four horses, two donkeys, nine chickens and four bunnies. I would also have one panda, four rhinos, three lions, seven tigers, four monkeys and two longhorn bulls. I would have a 25-yard by 25-yard barn for all animal food. I would have two water towers for animals. I would have a barn for the animals. I would have lakes for animals to swim. I would also have a big open fence.”

Spencer, 10

“If I ran a farm, I would have a horse and it would be fun. If I have a farm, I will have a purple house and some furniture. It will have vegetables and a garden, and I will grow some carrots. (I would also have) a cat, a dog and a cow.”
