Each week, The Sentinel publishes stories we receive to prompts in Kids World and on www.cumberlink.com. This week’s Kids Speak Out prompt was “I put on a pair of magical shoes and immediately I started to ...”

“I put on a pair of magical shoes and immediately I started to fly. I went too high. Then I said, ‘Magical shoes, take me a little lower.’ They did what I said. Then I said, ‘Thank you so much!’ I was so lucky to have those magical shoes.”

“I put on a pair of magical shoes and immediately I started to turn into animals. And I could turn into extinct animals, even from a long time ago before the dinosaurs—like huge bugs.”

“I put on a pair of magical shoes and immediately I started to itch because the magical shoes made me itch a lot.”

“I put on a pair of magical shoes and immediately I started to run super fast and skipped through the Atlantic Ocean. Then 10 seconds later, I was in India. I also got to New Delhi. I only had 15 minutes. In that time, I got to visit my grandparents. Five seconds later, I got to Dubai. There I got to visit my aunt, uncle and two cousins. I could also fly. I would carry my family to Africa since I could fly. After that I took it off and put it on my dog Hazel—now she can fly.”

“I put on a pair of magical shoes and immediately I started to turn into a baseball player. Every time I hit a homerun, the crowd went wild.”

“I put on a pair of magical shoes and immediately I started to spin around, and as soon as I stopped spinning, I realized I was in a land made out of ice. I tried to walk in these magical pair of shoes, but I couldn’t. All I did was slip and slide. I slid backwards and forward, upside down and right side up, until something very bad happened. I had slid into a humongous iceberg and hurt my arm. The good news was that the terrible pair of magical shoes had flew off my feet and landed in a hole of water. I started to spin around, and as soon as I knew it, I was back home and was glad I never would see those magical shoes again.”

“I put on a pair of magical shoes and immediately I started to float out the door with me not noticing. I ended up at the beach. I had fun at the beach.”

“I put on a pair of magical shoes and immediately I started to fly. I first traveled to Disney World and went on all the roller coasters. Then I went back home and gathered food and money for the poor. Then I went flying again to look for the poor. When I find them, I’ll give them fresh food and some money, enough for a house. Another thing that happened when I put on the shoes is I went super fast. Every time I would put one foot down on the ground, I would start running 50 mph. Then if I just want to go slower, I can jump, and I will immediately start walking slower. A way I can use this speed ability is to run to places super fast when we need it. For example, if you are making a project and you need tape, but don’t have any, you could run out super quick and get some.”
