Each week, The Sentinel publishes stories we receive to prompts in Kids World and on www.cumberlink.com. This week’s Kids Speak Out prompt was “Fifty years from now ...”

“Fifty years from now I think the world will change age restrictions for social media, jobs and driving. I predict this because a lot of kids (especially teenagers) want social media, but their parents disagree with them because of restrictions. Some people want certain jobs, but aren’t old enough to get them. As well, with driving, teenagers want to go hang out with their friends and go to birthday parties but their parents have something else to do and can’t take them. It will also have an impact on the world. Teenagers could earn more money and stop asking their parents for allowance. Parents also won’t get easily annoyed by their kids. This is what I think will happen fifty years from now.”

“Fifty years from now I think the world will have portals by then or invisibility. I will be 57 years old, and it will be 2069. There also will be a lot of stuff because it will be 50 years from now, and there’s a lot of ads too on TVs.”

“Fifty years from now I think the world will have a girl president. All the presidents have been boys, and I want a girl so I can be happy. A girl president will change everything, and everyone will be here in America. ... Maybe she will open up new shops and buildings. That is what I think will happen in 50 years.”

“Fifty years from now, I think the world will have cars that run on Mountain Dew. If cars ran on Mountain Dew, they wouldn’t pollute the earth. It would also be cheaper than gas because gas is like $6 and Mountain Dew is like $2. Plus, it would be safe the drink from the gas tank because it is full of Mountain Dew. Hopefully, there will be cars that run on Mountain Dew.”

“Fifty years from now I think the world will have flying cars so you will have more fun, and if you don’t want flying cars, you could have a normal self driving car. And I think we’re going to have sky buildings. They are buildings in the sky. And also people that can fly, flying trees and flying plants too.”

“Fifty years from now the world will have an ice monster. It could get ice for your drinks. You can slide in the inside of it. You can live with it every day, but you have to be cold. Next, (there will be) more superheroes to save you. They will help you when you are stuck in a building. They will help you when you’re in danger. Last, in 50 years, there will be a mud monster. It will get mud on you when you are sleeping inside. It will eat you. It will drop mud on the ground. That is last thing that will happen in 50 years.”
