The Carlisle Chamber of Commerce warned local women to think twice about the special offers they may be receiving through the mail about free wigs. The National Better Business Bureau advises consumers the special offers may have strings attached. There have been complaints from people who say they received no response after sending in the handling fees nor have they received money back under the terms of an advertised guarantee.

In other local news, police were investigating the slashing of convertible tops on four cars parked in downtown Carlisle early in the morning of May 14. Two cars were parked on West Louther Street. One car was parked on Mooreland Avenue near the Methodist Church. A fourth car was parked on the Piezo parking lot near some Dickinson College dormitories.
