Four local businesses were burglarized overnight March 19 in what Carlisle Police Chief Frank Giordano believed was a spree committed by the same perpetrators. Three of the businesses were in downtown Carlisle while the fourth was the Sunnyside Restaurant on the Harrisburg Pike. Police report someone entered the Beneficial Finance Co. at 1 S. Hanover St. between 7 p.m. March 19 and 6:15 a.m. March 20. Nothing was taken. The Molly Pitcher Hotel was not so lucky as someone carried away a 200-pound safe and $75 in silver after entering through the lobby and an office door. At Sunnyside Restaurant, the burglars made off with 11 bottles of whiskey and $25 in pennies. Lastly, burglars hit the Dutch Cupboard restaurant at 21 S. Hanover St., entering through broken glass in the front door. It was unknown at press-time whether anything was stolen.
