John W. Heinze and his son Charles A.B. Heinze purchase from Dr. Horace T. Sadler his 55-acre summer estate “Allenberry” on the banks of the Yellow Breeches Creek in Monroe Township. Father and son plan to convert the estate into an exclusive resort with added features for private parties, dances and banquets. The property started as a land grant from the Penn family. It has come down through a succession of wealthy local families including the Bosler and Sadler families. “Much of the development will have to wait until after the war,” Charles Heinze told The Sentinel. “We hope, however, to have some facilities ready for service by midsummer.”
