A Mechanicsburg man announced his write-in campaign this week, hoping to make the Mechanicsburg Borough Council race a contested one in the general election next Tuesday.

Justin Stimpson is running as an independent candidate. The Mechanicsburg Borough Council has four seats up for election, and all of the incumbents are on the November ballot — Gary Weber, Scott Pellman, Rodney Whitcomb and Jack Winchell.

Those were the only four candidates for the seats in the primary and heading into the general election, but Stimpson in a news release said he intends to secure one of the seats.

Stimpson moved to Mechanicsburg in 2014 and lives with his wife and two dogs. He said he wants to concentrate on revitalizing the downtown, providing safer streets and sidewalks and empowering residents to express their ideas.
